Meadow mist designs has a link up for your top 5 posts for the year. If I did this right, most of mine are not even spectacular. I have no idea why they have the most views.

blossom blocks finished from Making A Lather

I worked on the quilt blossom time through the year in 2022 making the blossoms by color from the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I needed 140 and I have finished 140. This project is retiring to the ufo closet, hopefully, for a short vacation before finishing.

I went through my black 2 inch strip bag and made a few more zippers.

I need 23 more zippers. There is a chance that with brown next month and odd colors in december, I can have the zipper blocks all made by the end of the month. And, then, these blocks ...

blossom blocks from Making A Lather

I made a few blossom time blocks as part of my rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I finished the center of rhododendron quiltville mystery

I made zipper blocks. I put frolic quiltville mystery quilt on the longarm as part of my one monthly goal.

I have been ironing scraps from a gifted bag.

I have been enjoying wonderful fall weather. It is still 70 during the day with pretty aqua blue skies. I am not looking to plunging into total darkness with changing our clocks back, tomorrow.

blossoms from Making A Lather

With light green as the color of the month for October and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, I thought it would be a great time to work ahead on the stems and leaves for blossom time. I cut the pieces

cut

And sewed the stems and HSTS.

sew
And trimmed the pieces

And a few blocks.....

It doesn't look like much, but, it took awhile.

blossom time from Making A Lather

I am using leftover strips from my maple leaves quilt for the new light blue blossoms for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I made more stems and leaves and 4 patches. I think I will need to carry this project over to next year, to get all the blocks I will need.

We have seen our weather turn cooler, and, then, return to hot. Most of the garden is sputtering. I still have a few blossoms around the house. Nasturtiums are still blooming. Petunias and pansies are still blooming. Our old old apple trees are dropping apples. Hubby ...

moving projects from Making A Lather

It is time to say - see you later- to an old friend. I am retiring this project to the the UFO closet. I have enough pieces cut, I think, but, all shirts go well together. I was hoping for 80 blocks and I have 52 finished. I need to concentrate on some "other" languishing projects to get a bit of organization and less chaos. I  want to move some projects out of easy to reach areas and spread out my current projects. I keep misplacing parts and pieces and really need to clean up and assess where I am. So ...

blossoms from Making A Lather

Pretty orange blossom time blocks are finished here for the  rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.  I have had to cut and make more parts for these cuties. I ran out of stems and 4 patches. I think I am closing in on the goal for this quilt. I think I have 128 out of 140 needed.  I may just go rogue and finish up with oddball fabrics I find laying around.

I harvested chocolate mint, since the dehydrator is empty. It is not my favorite herb tea - I like spearmint the best - but, it smells so yummy. I may ...

blossom time from Making A Lather

I finished the purple blossom time blocks for July and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Since, we are nearing the end of all the colors I want to use, I find I am constantly recutting and sewing the 4 patches in the flowers, and the stems. When I started I had several of each  ready to go from the first time I worked on this quilt. I have 84 blocks and think I want 140.

We have a yellow garden thing going along the driveway- daylillies and coreopsis. I just recently learned that you can make a syrup ...

purple blossoms from Making A Lather

This week I have been working on blossom time in purple for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I had pieces already to sew from the first time I worked on them in 2020. I have 7 done and need 5 more in purple.

I found this planter at aldis. It is like the green stalk everyone is talking about on gardening channels, But, much cheaper. I have planted fall crops in here. Carrots, radishes, green beans, sage. We will see if this works or becomes a chore to keep watered. At least it isn't taking up space ...

pretty blossoms from Making A Lather

I started to plan the blossom time blocks in blue, then, I realized that the leftovers from my maple leaves quilt I am assembling, will be perfect for the blossom time blocks. I didn't need to cut anything for June blossoms. Now, I need to make a few more 4 patches to keep going with these. I have 80 + blocks. My goal is 128.

I am trying to clean out the freezer to make room for the upcoming harvest this year. I found some stew meat I could can and free up a little space. Now, I have easy ...

more blossom time from Making A Lather

I made blossom time blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I wasn't sure how I would fit green into the mix since there was so much green already with the stems and leaves. I think I found some greens that were ok. I used 2 1/2 in strips to cut these. I used pieces that were at least 8 inches long. If I had any left over, in green, I cut for more stems and leaves. I need a piece that is at least 9 inches long to cut a set.

I planted orange mint ...

pink blossoms from Making A Lather

I cut for my pink projects and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

go fish 2 1/2, waffle stamp 1 1/2, easy breezy 1 1/2

I had enough blossom time strips already cut to make all the pink I would need, from when I started this quilt a few years ago. I did need to cut the HSTS and make more stems and leaves. And, now, I am out of any premade 4 patches for the corners going forward. Rhododendron trail mystery quilt had seriously decimated my pink scraps, so, it is a good thing I ...

blossom time from Making A Lather

It is Spring time in the sewing room. And I have planted radishes outside. hooray. I already had strips cut in yellow for blossom time and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I just needed hsts  and squares cut. I ran out of stem and leaves and had to cut more to finish. And, now, I better make some ahead for the next color.

spring blossoms from Making A Lather

It's almost Spring... ok we have 6 inches of snow on the ground and the temps are in the teens, BUT, Spring is coming.

I have aqua blossom time blocks done for the month of February and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I had hoped for 12 but the final count was ...11 sigh...

It is time to prune the grapevines. We haven't taken care of them for several years. Time for maple sugar season. And I hope we prune the apple tree. I am ready for Spring.

blossom time from Making A Lather

I have cut pieces for a stashbuster 2022 quilt in red. I haven't put one together yet but it looks fun. I have a small box of the right size pieces but not matching. So I will cut some more each month.

cut for stash buster challenge

I have relocated an older ufo to the sewing room to work on this year. Blossom time is a quiltville pattern. I started working on it from quiltmaker magazine, before there was a quilt pattern. I counted what I needed and cut the new pieces from red scraps. I think these blocks ...

frolic is a top? from Making A Lather

The top for quiltville frolic mystery quilt is finished as per the pattern. And, I was ready to quilt it. I realized, if I add borders, it would be bigger for a bed.
I didn't plan on going bigger, but, it seems an off - size this way.
It stalls until I make a decision.

When I took to quilting in earnest, borders were my least favorite part of the process. I left many almost finished quilts in the ufo pile to avoid borders. I had to decide how to fix that problem. It wasn't easy, but, I can ...

blossoms from Making A Lather

I try to sew something everyday that is not on a list. Although, the same things get chosen, so, in a way, there is "that" list. I have projects that I really want to see progress, even if slowly. But, I have some "other" projects without any plan for the finish. Blossom time ( Bonnie Hunter) is one of them. I cut a few scraps and then sew them. Then, I cut a few more and sew them. In this weird time, aimless has it's appeal.

Country roads and wonky houses and stars, are for the rainbow scrap challenge, but ...

blossom time from Making A Lather

I find it difficult to blog these days. Not because I don't have the time, but, because there is nothing remotely interesting to share. I have a project shelf loaded with ufos, And way too much fabric to ever use in a lifetime. But, I am fiddling with cutting little pieces of scrap fabrics into useable pieces, a handful at a time. These are a few blocks that are the results of that. These are blossom time from Bonnie Hunter and quiltmaker.

We are spending too much time watching TV. We found mentalist on prime and have been watching ...

hazel's scraps from Making A Lather

I'm afraid I have lost my ability to chat and sew. I pretty much have a determined to get through this face right now. Hubby is recovering, and needs a bit of attention, and, I am tired most of the time. It isn't easy "resting". I am grateful for the timing of his back surgery. It gives us something to do, while we are hearing the news. If his surgery had been any later, It wouldn't have happened. Elective surgeries have been cancelled.

I had a friend from guild give a scrap bag to me. It was ...
